Malware Informational Privacy Backup File Tools

These tools are useful for addressing common problems, and we offer these links as free service to small businesses. This list is intended for use on an individual's machine.

Malware:

Kaspersky - online anti-virus scanning. Their paid product is currently one of the best rated AV solutions.
Malwarebytes - can identify and remove malicious software from your computer.

Informational:

WinDirStat - a visual tool that displays what uses up your disk space. Can also be used from a thumb drive.
Belarc Advisor - builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hot fixes, and anti- virus status.
Dead Pixel Buddy - Great for determining if there are any dead or stuck pixels on an LCD display and laptops.

Privacy:

TrueCrypt - A great program for creating an encrypted container on a thumb drive to guard information in case the device is lost or stolen. Runs on both Windows and Mac platforms. Lots of advanced features.
Rohos Mini Drive - Similar to TrueCrypt in functionality, but perhaps simpler to use.
KeePass - A great container for all you passwords. Thumb drive version.
Firefox - A great Web browser, particularly because of the large number of add-ons allows you to customize it to the way you want to work.
CCleaner - CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool.

Backup:

SyncBack - A great free backup tool. The paid version has more features.
Karen's Replicator - Automatically backup files, directories, even entire drives.

File Tools:

Rename Master - Rename Master is a FREE utility for renaming large groups of files with a few clicks.
MP3 Book Helper - Edit MP3 ID3 and Ogg/Speex Vorbis tags easily. Create support files for audio book NFO, SFV, PAR, M3U.
7-Zip - 7-Zip is a file archive with a high compression ratio.
Bullzip PDF printer - works as a Microsoft Windows printer and allows you to create PDF files from virtually any application. Lots of good features.
